§ 18-3. Declarations of local open burning emergencies.

  • The County Administrator may, upon recommendation of the local forest warden appointed pursuant to § 10.1-1135, if the forestlands, brushlands and fields within the County have become so dry as to create a serious fire hazard endangering lives and property within the County, declare an open burning emergency and prohibit any person from engaging in any open burning until the emergency has terminated; provided, however, such declaration shall be subject to ratification by the Board of Supervisors at its next regularly scheduled meeting.
